About Chris
Hi Everyone. I’m Chris.
I’ve been in Information Technology since 1999 when I got my first job doing first level support for a company a bit south of Boston, MA. I only lasted two years on the call center before bailing – although anyone who’s worked a call center may consider two years an eternity!
Unfortunately, my next job involved six months more of help desk support. From there, however, I was able move up the latter a bit and started doing some junior level Network Administration and Telecom work; Creating/modifying/deleting Netware and NT/AD accounts, and doing Move/Add/Change work on a Siemens’ Telecom System and Avaya Voicemail system. There was plenty of busy work, but those years are a bit of a blur
.
I grew tired of that type of work and didn’t really see myself wanting to be a full time Network / Telecom guy, so I decided to go after my MCSE and change paths a bit. Since about 2003 I’ve been doing Systems Administration for a medium sized enterprise based out Boston. I work on a variety of tasks including Asset Management, Systems Administration, Desktop Security, Application Packaging, Application Virtualization, Patch Management, Enterprise Deployments, OS Upgrades, etc.
On the side I like to dabble in minor software development. My passion is around using technology to improve processes. Examples would include custom applications I’ve built to help small and medium sized businesses generate things like home inspection reports based off of punch cards, and scripts to create and format Word documents for customers of Astrologers based on their customers criteria. Yeah, I thought they were reading the stars too… turns out they were just running my script
Outside of technology I have a new found love for Texas Hold ‘Em. It started a few years ago when I got a kick out of watching Celebrity Poker Showdown and soon found myself not as bored as I used to be watching things like the WSOP and WPT. About two years ago I started entering into leagues and playing side games. I’ve improved my game pretty significantly in the last few years and will probably post a few hands now and again for those who are interested
.
