No matter how often we (the technicians and engineers) shake our heads at our end users or customers who haven’t backed up their most critical data before the hard disk crash, stolen device, or mistaken deletion, I would venture to guess that we’re just as lazy as they are. And what’s worse, is that we should know better; we know how easy it is for hardware to fail without warning, or the new virus to wipe the system without prejudice. I wrote this tip for the McAfee Community back in November 2008 and thought it would be useful to post here. I do not work for McAfee or for SafeBoot and I’m only posting this because I documented it all out when I was having trouble so that I could fix it in the future and thought it might help someone else.
